For the past five years, I’ve worked as The Beagle Lady (www.thebeaglelady.com), specialising in one of the most challenging breeds to train.
By building a community of over 36,000 beagle members on Facebook (The Beagle Lady Facebook Group), I’ve been able to focus exclusively on beagles, managing 5-10 cases of anxiety or aggression each month.
I've gained extensive experience in addressing complex behavioural needs—including:
(Pepper Potts pictured, who has anxiety and OCD.)
My interest in dog behaviour began during my 18-year career with Hertfordshire Police in the UK, where I served as a Detective Sergeant and was the 'Single Point of Contact' for Dangerous Dog Cases.
It was also during this time that I adopted my first beagle, Daisy in 2016, who is now 9 years old (pictured here).
Working with dangerous dogs, I saw a significant gap in understanding around dog behaviour and specific breeds.
I realised that, with the right knowledge, many biting incidents could have been prevented.
I’ve had the privilege of learning from world-renowned aggression expert Michael Shikashio, CDBC, studying specialised areas such as aggression, leash reactivity, and the latest research on aggression in dogs.
In addition to this advanced training, I hold a Level 4 Higher National Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Body Language, giving me a solid foundation in understanding complex behaviours.
I’ve also completed practical, hands-on training with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), further honing my skills in positive, science-backed methods to effectively support both dogs and their owners.
And I'm a member of the International Association Of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), dedicated to force free training and continued learning.
Since moving to Guernsey three years ago, I’ve been working with beagle clients solely online, connecting with beagle owners worldwide.
However, I miss the face-to-face connection. I miss working with all breeds as I once did at the beginning of my career in dog behaviour.
And so now, I am excited to offer my support to my local community as well as online worldwide, working with all breeds who are suffering with anxiety, aggression and complex behavioural issues.
